Suggest Treatment For Blisters On The Leg

I am researching for my dad ....he told me on phone this morning he has a few areas that small clusters of clear blisters have appeared on his leg....he also complained of pain going down his whole leg, i asked if its his sciatic nerve pain he said its different...said the leg hurts real bad to touch especially around the knee. he is diabetic and is 80 yrs old. i told him to get on webmd and he gets confused about pc things. ...was curious what could cause blisters...hes not out in sun with exposed skin. he did say he will go to the VA ER monday if not better.

Hi.
As per your case history your father is having herpes zoster.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the blisters as it may worsen the condition.
2. Maintain isolation for 5-7 days as it is contagious disease.
3. Apply an antiviral cream like acyclovir cream twice daily on it.
4. Take oral acyclovir 800mg 5 times a day and NSAID like ibuprofen for pain after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
