Suggest Treatment For Blockage In The Stomach Post A Gastric Bypass

My husband has had a gastric bypass, like 10 yrs ago. Since then he is not able to throw up. He has had food stuck above his stomach and now we feel he has a piece of ham stuck. Is there anything he can do rather than go in and have it pushed through?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Primary evaluation would be to find out the underlying cause of concern via upper GI endoscopy, CT scan or gastrograffin study as per the choice and decision of treating gastroenterologist. If there is documented blockage, there are various measures as balloon procedure, revision surgery or else laparoscopic approaches to correct the same.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
