Suggest Treatment For Blocked Ear Along With Sharp Pain
For the past 2 days, I've had a blocked ear. I thought it was just ear wax, so I cleaned my ear with a cotton swab. The blockage persisted. Yesterday, I started developing sharp pain inside my ear and down the side of my neck on the same side. This morning I woke up and my ear and neck seemed somewhat swollen, painful (about 6 on 10), and I have a small hard lump behind my ear (aprox 1 inch from my ear lobe)
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of blocked ear along with sharp pain which seems to be due to earwax accumulation, otitis media and penetration of foreign object. I would suggest you to keep your ears dry and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain. Apply dry compresses on ear and do not penetrate ear with any sharp object. You should consult ENT specialist for proper checkup with otoscope and rule out causes like temporomandibular problem. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics for at least for 10 days to subside infection along with anti inflammatory medications.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
