Suggest Treatment For Blocked Nose And Strep Throat

My grandson is just 13 he gets colds and serious strep a lot. Because he takes levetiractam the last 4 years he can t take any otc meds to help relieve his stuffy runny nose etc. etc I have tried neti pot for years and still water goes in but doesn t go out the opposite side. No one wants to deal with removing tonsils or adenoids and that he is a mouth breather and whatever is going on with his nasal passage no one is tacking action. What is up and what do we do or where do we go. Boston area. Thank you

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have blocked nose and strep throat which is because of infection travel down the respiratory track and affected whole area an leads to granular pharyngitis and sinusitis. Nasal blockage can also occur due to other reasons like nasal polyp , post nasal drip or allergic rhinitis. I would suggest you to again consult your ENT specialist for proper examination. He/she may prescribe further antibiotic course and stronger antibiotics. Take combination of amoxicillin along with Levocetrizine. Doctor may also recommend surgery in case of nasal polyp .You should put xylomist nasal drops to prevent congestion. You should take chicken soup along with along with lemon tea. Take diet rich in vitamin C. Take decongestant nasal sprays containing mucinex for instant relief.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
