Suggest Treatment For Blocked Sinuses Post A Jaw Surgery

My sinuses are partially blocked from jaw surgery I had roughly 20 years ago. An ENT prescribed a medication (don t remember the name and its since been pulled from the market) to keep the mucus in my sinus thinned so they will drain. I was having sinus infections all the time and they lasted forever. I was then on a different medication which also got pulled from the market and then finally about 10 years ago, a doctor prescribed Musinex and I ve been on it ever since. I take 600mg twice a day, morning and night. Is there any long term effects from an extended use such as this? I haven t seen an ENT for about 10 years.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Mucinex makes the mucus in the sinuses thinner so that its expulsion is faster and easier and you can get relief from congestion.

There are no major side effects of this drug for which you should stop them. Some minor side effects include effects on the stomach, headache, dizziness etc. that may not be felt by you or can be controlled easily with OTC medicines.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
