Suggest Treatment For Blood Clots In Lungs, Heart And Leg
my wife found that she had blood clots in her lungs, one in her heart, and one in her leg. they put her on blood thinning meds to help clear them up. now they don t seem to be able to keep her blood where it is suppose to be today it was 4.9. what could be the cause of this? they don t seem to be able to keep it under control. would she be better off with maybe a different med or would you advise that she see a specialist to find out if it may be some other problem that may be causing her blood to not settle down?
Blood thinners are very important in such cases, as in absence she may get serious clots. Yes the target INR should be maintained.
It's not very easy, and little variation is always there, but it's always possible to have an acceptable range. The main things are that she should strictly follow the advice regarding the dose and timings of drug.
She should take care about any other drugs she takes or foods that may interact with the blood thinners.
If in spite of this she does not achieve the target, she can have advice from the haematologist. But taking the drug is very necessary and she shouldn't stop without advice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
