Suggest Treatment For Blood In Mucus While On Treatment For Sore Throat

I am male, aged 38. I had a sore throat 3 days back. Was given azithromicin 250 and Desloratadine tablets. However, there is no improvement and i find traces of blood in the mucus that i spit out. Should I be continuing with medication (3 days) or increase dosage or use some other medicines.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection. I suggest you continue the medication given by your doctor. The treatment is correct. The blood in mucus can be due to a cough, nothing to be worried.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
