Suggest Treatment For Blood In Stool Of A 9 Month Old Baby

HI, Doc My 9month old baby girl yesterday night having stool with few blood, we have consult our doctor, and as per the dr this is dysentery, he prescribed some madicine and the same done the job, but she is havind a loose potty with green color now, please suggest is there anything to worry about?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

AS per your query you have symptoms of blood in stools which seems to be due to infection in gastrointestinal tract, hemorrhoids, fissure, fistula on anus, and could be rectal polyp.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Give laxatives or stool softeners to child.

- Give diet rich in fresh fruits and give plenty of fluids.

- Give Sitz bath twice daily.

Visit gastroenterologist once and get complete examination done. You should egt colonoscopy done as per instructions and start treatment accordingly.
