Suggest Treatment For Blue Colored Veins On Legs And Ankles

What are some supplements, and perhaps other efforts, that I can take and implement now to reduce the small blue vein showings that I am seeing more within the past couple of years in my legs and ankles? I am nearly 67 years old, have been much more physically active than my mother who had some more prominent vein showings than I do, and now wear a lot of Dansko shoes due to double bunion surgery in 2010. I also do not cross my legs, and prop my feet and legs up whenever possible when sitting and also while sleeping. I retired in 2010 after 35 years of teaching and stood and walked around more than I ever sat.

Hello
I have gone through your question and understood your concern quite well.
The things as you told are quite suggestive of varicose veins.
It's a very initial stage and now so many modalities are present for its treatment.
So it's pretty good that you consulted now only.
You can get a good management for it in this stage.

Firstly, go for a colour doppler study for both lower limbs.
And then consult your physician or intervention radiologist with report of colour doppler study for further management.
Till then what you need to is
1) avoid long standing
2) while sitting keep your legs up
3) keep foot end of your bed higher than head end so that blood doesn't pools in veins of lower limb.
4) avoid injury to lower limb
5) wear compression stocking

Thank you for writing us
Feel free to contact me back for further follow up.

Hope I answered your query well.
