Suggest Treatment For Boil Near Armpit And Between Toes

My daughter had what we thought was a boil on her side, right below her arm pit on her ribs. It popped and drained, but it s not clearing up, and it looks like she s getting the same thing between her toes. It s been on her upper left side for months now. She didn t say anything to me until a couple of weeks ago. It popped, and then it just keeps oozing and sweeling up again.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It sounds like your daughter may have a recurring skin infection or abscess. It's important to have it evaluated by a healthcare provider to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.

For a boil or abscess, the healthcare provider may recommend warm compresses to help draw out the infection, or they may need to drain the area. Antibiotics may also be necessary if there is an infection.

For the boil between her toes, it's possible that it could be a fungal infection, such as an athlete's foot. Treatment for fungal infections typically involves antifungal creams or powders.

In the meantime, it's important to keep the affected areas clean and dry. Avoid picking at or squeezing the area, as this can worsen the infection or cause it to spread. If the area becomes more painful or the infection spreads, seek medical attention promptly.

If you require a personalized response, kindly use the Ask A Doctor service and post a follow-up. Take care. Hope I have answered your question.
