General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi,
Pain on the base of the skull is most likely suboccipital muscle strain or stress injury. Applying anti inflammatory gels like Ketoprofen or Diclofenac will be helpful. Avoid high pillows. Swelling on forehead if it persist then it should be examined by a General surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nishad B. N., General & Family Physician
