Suggest Treatment For Bradycardia

I have heart palpitations from time to time and I have done Ok on Stress test, I have what they call Bradycardia due to low pulse rate. I have been take 25mg of metoprolol but when my doctor increased it to 50 mg I experienced drop slight faint spells, and then the doctor reduce back to 25 mg but I take 12 1/2 mg 2 times a day. It seems my palpitations have stopped, but when I worn a heart monitor for 6 days my doctor said they saw several times where my would have a 2 second pause then 4 second pause and once at 8 second pauses. Now she wants to install a pacemaker. Should I get a second opinion from another heart doctor?

Hi welcome to HCM.
I understand your query and concern.
Pacemaker in your case could be safely installed ,considering options of risk vs benefit.Metoprolol is an excellent drug in your case to combat bradycardia. Faint spells can be avoided in your case by such aggressive management.I advise you to have a baseline 2 dimensional echocardiography,ECG and lipid profile to assess the basic cardiac reserve of your heart.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6g/day.Regular physical exercise in the form of brisk walk for 20 min a day for 5 days a week is pretty useful.Drugs like antihypertensives and antiarrhythmics will help.Reduce the intake of fatty and fried food. A Second opinion from the doctor will help.Consult a Cardiologist for further expert management.Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
