Suggest Treatment For Breast Swelling And Clear Nipple Discharge?
Hi! I am experiecing left breast swelling and clear nipple dischare. I had a bilateral MRI done; results were negative. I then had an ultrasound; the results said that I have a cluster of cysts. I then had a prolactin test done and my levels are elevated. What could be causing the cysts to form also my levels to be higher than normal- I am not pregnant.
Breast swelling with cysts on ultrasound, clear nipple discharge along with raised prolactin could be due to fibrocystic disease of breast. I suggest you to consult a surgeon to get FNA of breast swelling / lump for confirmation of fibrocystic breast disease. Fibrocystic breast disease can be managed with medication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
