Suggest Treatment For Breathing Difficulty And Sharp Pain Under The Breasts

My 21 year old daughter went to the emergency room today due to sharp pain under her right breast and difficulty breathing. They did X-rays and diagnosed her with detritus, calling it an infectious virus. They called in a prescription for steroids (3 pills once a day) for 4 days to reduce thr inflammation and a prescription for Motrin as needed. She has taken the first dose of steroids along with Motrin and she feels worse than before. Do u have any other ideas for relief of he pain?

Hello,

It looks like Acute RTI, it could be Acute bronchitis. If your daughter is not comfortable taking the prescribed medication than she needs medical attention, get her admitted. She may need intravenous support of antibiotics & fluids.

She may need a repeat X-Ray, Pulmonary function tests & sputum examination done. You are recommended to visit the Pulmonary Rehabilitation centre, she needs certain therapies.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
