Suggest Treatment For Bronchitis And Sinusitis

I have been diagnosed with bronchitis and sinusitis and am on antibiotic and inhaler. I just got the meds last night and began getting sick Wed. My sore throat is excruciating. When I cough, all of my teeth hurt and my throat feels like I m being stabbed. When can I expect these meds to kick in?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It may take 24 to 48 hours for some effect. You may also need a cough suppressant and pain medication as well to help reduce your discomfort. An anti inflammatory pain killer would be the best option, that is naproxen, cataflam, ibuprofen. Topical pain killer applied directly to the throat may also be helpful, that is covonia throat spray or chloroseptic. A cough suppressant would be dextromethophan. These medications are available over the counter.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
