Suggest Treatment For Bronchitis

Yes, I have had a cough and congestion in my bronchial area. The phlegm is thick and green in color. I ve had this condition off and on for the last several months treating it with Mucinex D and NiteQuil feeling it was getting better until the last few weeks. I was treated about one year ago for severe sinusitis and acute bronchitis with a regiment of prednisone and antibiotics (Levaquin & Amox-Clav). I feel the sinus issues were resolved but the bronchitis was never totally eliminated. My question, is there something more serious going on or is this being mistreated? I don t smoke and 73 years old, taking meds for hypertension and cholesterol.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. Chest x ray.
3. PFT ( pulmonary function test ).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection as a cause for your coughing.
PFT is needed to diagnose bronchitis. It will also tell you about severity of the disease. And treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug.
So better to consult pulmonologist and first diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
