Suggest Treatment For Bruise And Lump On Left Side Of Abdomen

I have a bad bruise with a hard lump on the left side of my abdomen. It appeared with no cause of injury. Today marks a week since the bruise and lump arose. The bruise seems to be getting bigger and darker in color, but the pain/discomfort is the same. It is more uncomfortable and tender, than painful. What could this be, what should I do?

Hi,

I would advise my patients to evaluate lumps in the abdomen with ultrasound imaging. If this is new and worsening, more urgent evaluation should be had and it sounds like in your case, to rule out a hernia. If you have fever, vomiting, or blood in your stool/urine, I would advise emergent evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. David Hoch, Internal Medicine Specialist
