Suggest Treatment For Bruise And Swelling On Knee

I slid in softball and now I have a huge bruise, swelling, and fluid in knee and shin area on my leg. I can walk but hurts. I put a compression wrap on it. And when I got up to watch a horrible shooting pain went down my leg. I have been icing it since Friday nite. I have been taking ibuprofen and used heating pad and absorbine pain patches at nite. Any advice or idea of what could be wrong. It started as a big knot now it is a huge bruise and bruise seems to be getting bigger.

Hello,

Bruising, swelling and fluid collection in knee joint can occur due to trauma to the knee joint. The symptoms of bruising and swelling should resolve within few days. In case these symptoms do not resolve spontaneously, you need to consult your orthopedician for clinical assessment and relevant investigations.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
