Suggest Treatment For Bruise On The Left Ankle

Hello, I fell by twisting my left ankle from an uneven sidewalk. I m 72. No skin was broken. I am able to walk on it without pain. A bruise developed on the the outside at first around the ankle and has traveled around the foot to the toes and back. It now looks like it is moving upward a little. The color has gone from dark purple with red to faint purple on the top of the foot and the dark purple has spread to the toes and the heal. I have been icing and keeping it elevated. I m concerned about the color moving up my leg. Should I be worried? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to blunt trauma.

For further assessment you may require X Ray after orthopedician consultation.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Restrict your movements.

Avoid heavy weight lifting.

Use support while walking

Hope I have answered your query..
Let me know if I can assist you further.
