Suggest Treatment For Bruise On The Leg

8wks ago I fell and injured my leg resulting ina bruise the size of a large egg immediate ly popping up. I went to dr he said let it alone it will eventually go away. 6 wks later he sent me to a surgeon who used a needle to extract fluid from it. I now have a rash and the wound drains. Is the rash a result of the reduction of the swelling or some other reason?

Hi,

You need to get it evaluated again by the surgeon to rule out any subcutaneous infection. Also, the coagulation profile needs to be done to see any bleeding diathesis or low platelets or any other cause which may delay the wound healing or leads to such collection of blood in the skin.

Cold compression may be helpful meanwhile. If pain or temperature, OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen and antibiotics may also be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
