Hi. I am a 28 year old female. While on vacation this past week, I noticed a large bruise on the back of my upper thigh. I do not recall any trauma. The bruise started off as the size of a quarter and a bit purple/blue/green. Over the past week it has grown to the size of my palm and has turned black/purple/red and now has a paler, almost circular, center of the bruise. Not in any constant pain, but it does hurt to the touch. Wondering if I should make an appointment with my primary or just let it heal on it s own? Thanks
I can understand your concern for the bruise over bruise on the thigh.
As it occurred without any trauma and just insidiously so I suggest you to keep a watch over the same. If you feel any pain or increase in the size then it is better to consult a dermatologist for best guidance.
For the time being you can follow the suggestions below:
-Apply over the counter calamine lotion 3-4 times a day. -Do not scratch or rub the skin as it can lead to further aggravation. -You can take oral anti histamine for itching like loratadine or levocetrizine under medical advice. - For the pain part you can take any pain killer round the clock basis.
All the best
