Suggest Treatment For Bruises On The Knee

Son landed on his knee d/t trip and fall playing basketball. Half dollar sized bruise below knee cap outside of knee. Pins and needle sensation above knee cap interior side diagonally up from bruise when he bends it. Ice application right after injury. No pain when immobile knee straight. He can bare weight. No swelling redness or heat. Happened yesterday, still walks straight legged to avoid pain. Tylenol has been beneficial. Do you feel xray is necessary and what other treatment would you suggest?

Hello,
Thanks for the query.

He might be having a low platelet count and hence he is developing these bruises.

Get his platelet levels checked.

Usually it takes around 2 weeks for the bruise to heal,

He can use oint thrombophobe to get a faster relief.

A photograph would have helped me better.

Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.

Let me know if you have any other doubt.
