Suggest Treatment For Bruising And Swelling Above Knee Cap

My son ran into a log and bruised his leg just above his knee cap. There was some bruising and swelling and then a few days later it was a little stuff and sore? He played a football game and of course it became more sore. Do you think it is just a bruise or is it likely he tore something when he ran into the log? There was no twisting, just impact.

Hello,

Bruising occurs after trauma is expected. However, the site needs to be checked for any injury to skin or underlying structures. The bruise needs to be managed by rest and hot fomentation. You may take pain killer in case it is accompanied by pain.
