Suggest Treatment For Bruising And Swelling In Lower Shin After Falling

I am a 22 year old female and was playing tag with a few of my little cousins. I was running to the front porch to get on base but in the process I fell on the stairs. My lower shins were very bruised and discolored and had a large lump that never went away after swelling went away. Area is usually numb but has pain when pressed or bumped on anything. Is there something I can do to get my shin back to normal?

Hello and welcome.

Based on the information provided it does not sound like there could be any injury to the bony structure in the region which means the injury would have mainly been to the soft tissue in the region.

But as the shin region has little soft tissue the tibia would have faced most of the injury. I still recommend an X-ray of the region while visiting an orthopedic doctor who would also analyze the superficial region. Any hematoma should be drained and accordingly your troubles should vanish. Without visually examining the region I cannot say much but these could possibly be the causes.

Best wishes
