Suggest Treatment For Bruising On Inner Thigh

I was hit in the leg during a ballgame. inner thigh. It bruised up badly and the bruise has gone away but there is a lump where the initial hit occurred. I have a history of developing cellulitis with these type of injuries. how can I treat it to prevent a recurrence.

Hi,

This is probably a contusion only. Without a break of overlying skin, chance of developing cellulitis is low. Just apply ice packs and take analgesics like ibuprofen tablets 3 times a day for 3 days.

No need to take antibiotic prophylaxis. If the swelling increases in size, pain increases, overlying skin becomes red or hot to touch, or fever comes- kindly see your doctor, as this suggests cellulitis needing antibiotics therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
