Suggest Treatment For Bulge In The Stomach Below The Ribcage

I have a bulge in my stomach, just under my rib cage. It goes horizontally, I am thin and it is very noticeable. I did have my physical on Wednesday and she did say I have a hernia. How serious is this. I know in the past year I did suffer from stomach problems and had an upper endoscopy. Normal. I do take Prilosec every day. I know I will need surgery. Is it urgent as I read it can interfere with other organs? Can it get worse??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an epigastric hernia.

Consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan.

We have to rule out other causes also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
