Suggest Treatment For Bulged Disc And Pain In Foot

I have a bulged disc pushing on the root of my nervers. I have constant pain in my right foot. All my doctor has done is perscribe me pain killers , but these are very strong and make me feel like a complete zombie. Im a mother of 3 young children so i dont like to take them. Do you think I would need surgery to remove the disc ?
