Suggest Treatment For Bulging And Herniated Disc

I m getting an epidural with cortisone to my neck and lower back due to bulging and herniated discs from a car accident. I ve been holding off for months as I am EXTREMELY apprehensive about the procedure and I informed the doctor that I cannot tolerate novacaine when I go to the dentist because I have a real panic attack with my heart rate going into tachycardia. He said he will give me lidocaine without epinephrine before the primary injections He told me that I can take Xanax prior to this procedure. Do s this all make sense

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to herniated disc.

For further evaluation you may require MRI back, nerve conduction studies after spine surgeon consultation.

You may require surgical intervention after surgeon consultation.

Till then you can take tablet acetaminophen for pain.

Continue physical therapy.

Avoid forward bending

Hope I have answered your query...
Let me know if I can assist you further.
