Hello I m 13 years old and a female ever since I ve gone through puberty I ve gotten these bumps under my skin around my inner thighs, armpits, and private parts a few months ago I found a sharp pain through my left armpit and when I looked at it it was a bump under the skin it was red and big and then a few weeks later I take a shower and just for the heck of it I check to see if its gone away but no instead a pile of my skin became dead and fell right off of the head of the bump then it didn t hurt but I was very worried I could see at least 2/3 layers of my surface skin had been removed and looked like a crater with my skin inside of it pure red/pink now there s a foul nasty smell and the skin around the hole is now turned to a white/gray color the smell is even worse and it hurts so much more now when I lift my armpit everyone from 5 ft away from me can smell the nasty hole please help I m worried this might kill me

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history, you are having folliculitis. My treatment advice is –

1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit bhachech
