Hello I have gone through your question and understand your concern. Genital warts spread through direct contact and it is possible not to develop warts immediately post exposure in some cases it may take months to appear. Genital warts are caused by a virus called human papilloma virus, warts or out growths are produced by virus both inside and outside the genitals. Avoid direct sexual contact with non infected individuals to avoid spread of the disease moreover talk to your treating doctor if current treatment is not suitable for you, warts can be treated with cryotherapy and laser. HPV vaccination and PAP smear taken once a year will also be of help as few strains of HPV causing virus are also responsible in causing cervical cancer. Treating warts does not treat the disease is the most important thing to remember, removal of warts is just a superficial approach where as the problem can be deep in comparison to warts. Hope your concern is answered. Thank you
