Suggest Treatment For Bumps On Head And Lump On Neck

I have these really weird things on the back of my head and they just recently became super tender. I haven t touched them. I try to keep the area clean but they are getting worse. Now there is more than one and there s also a lump near my neck left side that doesn t move. It s really hard but it doesn t hurt. It has also gotten bigger.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I suggest a possibility of bacterial infection i.e Furuncle, given that the area is tender and also there is regional lymph node enlargement.
I suggest a course of an Oral antibiotic for a week.
My choice would be either Amoxycillin or cephalexin for a week. This would take care of the bacterial infection.
Topically you may use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g mupirocin 2% ointment, twice daily for a week.
An OTC oral anti-inflammatory / painkiller e.g ibuprofen twice or thrice daily will provide you symptomatic relief from pain and swelling.
Since the infection is situated in hair bearing area therefore I also suggest you to use an antiseptic shampoo e.g cetrimide 5% shampoo every alternate days.
This would not only help drain and loosen up adherent discharge but also aid in faster recovery as well as prevent a recurrence.
Avoid using hair oil.

Regards
