Suggest Treatment For Burning Red Rashes On The Face
I had a really bad allergic reaction to something - not sure what - where my face swelled up, my eyes were practically swollen shut and my face had a burning red rash on it. I went to urgent care, got two shots (a steroid and and antihistomine) and a prescription for 5 days worth of prednisone (10 mg-3,3,2,2,1). I am now done with the steroids and the swelling is down but my face is still very hot and red. The rash has turned into a wrinkled, dry skin patch. What if anything can I put on it? I am afraid to put anything on it that will cause another reaction.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of burning red rashes on the face which seems to be that fact that you are being exposed and re exposed to the allergen and this is the reason that the allergic reaction is persisting. It could be due to contact dermatitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take proper course of antihistamine drug along with short course of oral corticosteroids after proper prescription. Exfoliate your skin once in a week to remove the dead skin. Drink plenty of water. Wash face with face wash containing salicylic acid twice a day and apply cream containing azelaic acid. If condition doesn't get better in a month then consult dermatologist again for proper diagnosis and to rule out any underlying condition . Doctor may prescribe isotretinoin , steroid ointment or antibiotics course.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
