Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In Legs

My father is 80 yrs old, has got pot s spine, got spine surgery 3 months back and then had the ATT course for 3 months, stopped streptomycin, currently taking Rcinex but he complaints of continuous leg burn, what can be the cause and what can be the remedy? He also has COPD

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

There is most likely peripheral neuropathy in your father's case.

There might be following causes for it -

- Pot's spine its self associated with these types of symptoms.

- Drug induced:
Some component drugs of ATT may cause peripheral neuropathy.
Isoniazid is one of them.
Used throughout the course of ATT that is in intensive phase and continuation phase as well.

- Vitamin B12 and/or Vitamin D deficiency.

Get Vitamin B12, Vitamin D levels, Thyroid function test done.

He should use Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) & Methyl cobalmin (Vitamin B12) supplements along with ATT.

Keep in touch with his treating doctor.
For Pot's spine duration of ATT is usually 12 to 18-month.
