Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In The Skin While On Prednisone

I have a stinging / burning sensation under both arms and the skin on my upper back is somewhat painful when touched. There are no visible signs, no rash, bumps, etc. A week of prednisone had no effect. I ve had this for almost a month, and there s been no change. On a scale of 1-10, the pain is about a 3. I ve had no change in diet and no change in location. I ve ruled out Gulf War Syndrome. My symptoms don t seem to match any of the known GWS symptoms. My doctor is stymied. I live in north central Carolina.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* A stinging or burning sensation can be part of bacterial or viral
infection of the skin without overlying rash or bumps.

* The re evaluation with another dermat specialist would help better
way to assess again.

Thanks.
