Suggest Treatment For Burns On Wrist

Hi, my friend just recently burned her wrist from hot oil in a pan while she was cooking. It is really painful and some parts of the burn have turned green, while most of it is red and raw. She has been putting neosporin on it and keeping it bandaged at night. What should she be doing to help it heal?

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I think the burnt area has already got infected, the yellowish green color being an indicator of that.

I would suggest her oral antibiotics for a week or so, that would take care of the infection and allow the skin to regenerate.

My choice of oral antibiotic would have been either:

Amoxycillin 500mg in combination with clavulanic acid 125 mg, thrice daily for a week

OR

Cephalexin 500 mg thrice daily for a week

OR

Cefadroxil 500 mg twice daily for a week.

An OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% Mupirocin twice daily can be applied over that area.

hope this helps
Regards
