Suggest Treatment For Butterfly Rashes On Nose

it started actually almost 20 years ago! I am an avid bicycle rider, nearly 80 to 100 miles a week. it all started after strep throat. muscle in legs so painful, muscles feeling flaccid for hours then hard as rock for hours, legs were so weak felt like soggy noodles, walked for 20 minutes and my legs took 7 to 8 days to recover! symptoms a lot better but symptoms come back sometimes in 2 months sometimes in 2 years! I do get a butterfly rash on nose when flares, could this be lupus? I just turned 57 but before this i could bike 3 days in row now only once or twice a week? what is this? help

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have butterfly rashes on nose which seems to be that fact that you are either undergoing some systemic pathology such as lupus, allergic dermatitis or you are being exposed and re exposed to the allergen and this is the reason that the allergic reaction is persisting. I would suggest you to take proper course of antihistamine drug along with short course of oral corticosteroids after proper prescription. Wash face with face wash containing salicylic acid twice a day and apply cream containing azelaic acid. Exfoliate your skin once in a week to remove the dead skin. If condition doesn't get better in a month then consult dermatologist again for proper diagnosis and to rule out any underlying condition . Doctor may prescribe isotretinoin , steroid ointment or antibiotics course. Drink plenty of water.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
