General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

If the size of kidney stone is greater than 5 mm in diameter, even if it is non-obstructing, the recommendation is a referral to Urology for further evaluation because such large stone has the likelihood that it may not be able to pass on its own.

If you have symptoms with this current finding, I advise you to follow up with urgent care or your primary care doctor to get a referral to Urology if your insurance requires a referral to see a specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Katie Lee, General & Family Physician
