Suggest Treatment For Cellulitis In Leg And Viral Infection

I am a sixty year old woman and recently was in hospital with cellulitis in my leg and strep and a viral infection. I was put on IV anitibiotics for two weeks, that was the first of January. Now just within the last few days my hair has been shedding. Is this normal after being so sick and will it stop soon. Thank you.

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I understand you have been treated for cellulitis of leg completely and now the only problem is hair loss. Hair loss is very common after recovering a major illness or any viral infection. So you don't need to worry.

To those patients who come to my clinic with similar complaints, I would suggest nutrition must contain more of vitamins and trace elements. Wet hair must not be combed as it is more sensitive than dry hair. Traction on the hair in the form ponytails or tight braids is to be avoided.

Becosules forte capsules to be taken once daily for 3 months. Topical minoxidil 5% solution to be applied on scalp. Tab. Finasteride 1mg once daily for at least 3 months. Tab. Trichoton once daily for at least 3 months.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
