Suggest Treatment For Chest Congestion And Cough

Good morning, I am starting to develop some head and chest congestion. It happens usually a couple times a year. Laying down results in a cough beginning that is productive but makes it hard to sleep. I have success in using a net try pot to clear sinuses but would like advice on stopping the chest congestion from developing further. Past episodes have lead to a persistent cough and fever.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It seems you have sinus problem apart from long-standing chest congestion & cough along with fever. All these symptoms suggest the possibility of the pneumonic condition of the lung due to untreated, long-standing & unattended infection. The root cause can be sinusitis secondary to allergy.

You in such a condition need urgent consultation of a chest specialist for his expert pieces of advice following detailed physical examination followed by needful investigations. This would help in pinpointing the basic cause, to be followed by specific treatment.

Till then take rest, avoid exposure to allergens, eat simple easily digestible & nutritive food, drink warm water, do hot saline gargles, inhale vapor if sinus takes is affected, take paracetamol (for fever) & cough syrup over the counter.

For the prescription of antibiotic, you need expert advice as discussed before.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
