I have a bad chest cough that just appeared yesterday. It started with a scratchy throat then quickly became me coughing up yellow phlegm that tastes metallic like iron. I feel a little fever but my sinuses are clear, only my chest cough. I don't smoke

Your are probably going through a viral infection. Have lots of liquid, try steam inhalation and warm salt water gargling. If fever persists you will need to see your doctor.
