Suggest Treatment For Chest Discomfort With Shortness Of Breath
My daughter has been sick for 1 and 1/2 months, hard to breath-especialy at night. Been checked out by a dr., everythig is fine, they even did chest Xrays. Yet its diffucult to breath, she says its tight in the chest area, cant smell anything and her inner left wrist is bothering her???
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Chest tightness, breathing difficulty especially at night are more suggestive of asthma. Chest x ray is usually normal in asthma. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). PFT will not only diagnose asthma but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only. She will need inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). Don't worry, she will be alright with all these. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your daughter. Thanks.
