Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain And Cough After Breathing Cleaning Acid
i was trying to clean the bathroom few minutes ago..i used zonrox bleach ..pouring on the bowl, and on the floor and added some stain removal chemicals as well, minutes later felt chest pains and couldn't breathe well nevertheless tried to finish cleaning as quickly as i can and even took a batj immediately hoping i would feel relaxed but still i was gasping for air...and fianlly went out of the bathroom but i kept on coughin excessively and have chest pains..now am in my bed with my electric fan on trying to relax..while the coughing has lessed somehow but still feel uneasy when i try to breathe deeply as i kept on coughing when i do it... what will i do? i hope my lungs have not been damaged nor any part of my system... please help...will inhaling vicks vaporub help? please help..thank u...
Thanks for your question on HCM. Yes you are right, inhaling acid fumes sometimes cause inhalant induced bronchitis and spasm. Acidic fumes are irritant in nature and once inhale in sufficient quantity, they produce inflammation and edema. This will trigger coughing and air hunger. The severity of injury depends on 1. Concentration of fumes. 2. Duration of inhalation. 3. Any underlying lung disease or not. 4. Amount of fumes inhaled. So if you are healthy and exposure is of short time, no need to worry as it will subside by its own. But if you are symptomic for 1 day consult your pulmonologist for this. You may require antibiotics and inhaled medicines.
