Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain While Coughing

I have had a bad cough for a number of weeks but seem to be getting much better. About an hour ago I coughed and felt a strange ‘popping’ sensation in my ribs, left side and lower back area. It is now extremely painful when I cough. I can feel it when not coughing however it is not really painful until I actually cough.

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Chest pain on coughing is characteristic feature of pleurisy ( inflammation of pleura ).
And you are also having chronic cough.
So following possible causes for pleurisy must be rule out in your case.
1. Tuberculosis
2. Pneumonia
3. Pleural effusion.
So get done chest x ray to rule out above mentioned conditions.
If chest x ray is normal then no need to worry much.
Also get done ecg to rule out cardiac cause .
If this is also normal then you are mostly having musculoskeletal pain.
So take painkiller and muscle relaxant.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
