Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have had a chest pain for ten years now. It seems to come from between the 2nd and 3rd rib down on the right hand side of the ribcage. Its a nagging heavy dull pain, which can get worse at times but other times I cannot feel it. Now and again it does turn into a shooting pain, for a period of seconds. When it is bad I also have a similar dull pain in my back directly behind where the pain in the front is coming from. Over the last few weeks the pain seems to have worsened and although im not sure if its related, I have had tenderness around the throat and neck area, which results in pain if I turn my head to the right. I have had about 3 chest xrays over the last 10 years, one of which was only a few months ago and was found to be normal. I am a fit active individual with normal blood pressure and no other problems that I am aware of. My personal feeling is that there is something in my lung or on the outside of it. It feels too deep to be muscular related. Thank you
** 1. Since you have undergone x-rays in the past all of which appears to normal, make sure to check with a chest specialist who will examine you completely and will verify if there is any abnormality in the chest x-ray. PS. MRI thoracic spine, HRCT [CHEST] and EMG- NCV [nerve conduction study] and check your vit B12 and vit D3 level. 2. sine pain is in the right side and going back, make sure to get an ultrasound done to rule out any gall bladder pathology. 3. Since the pain is chronic and coming from 2-4th rib, think of costo chondritis which also give parasternal tenderness PS. How water fomentation:2-3 times a day . rest with minimal movements. . over the counter pain killers like: Voveron,Proxyvon . Local Hydrocortisone injection around the costo chondral junction.
