Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having pains in my chest that feels like my heart is cramping. This has been going on for some time, I have just been trying to ignore it thinking it may be from anxiety & i try to reduce my stress as much as i can! Im just worried this might be something serious & want to kno if it is something i need to have checked out.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Chest pain is suggestive of diseases of cardiovascular system, respiratory system or musculoskeletal system. If there is history of trauma then the pain is probably due to musculoskeletal causes. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and relevant investigations. Assessment of cardiovascular system involves ECG, echocardiography initially. If any abnormal finding is picked up, further tests like stress test and angiography can be done. Auscultation of chest and chest X-ray can be done to assess the respiratory system.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
