Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain

Thank you. My son has just phoned me and said he has started to develop a left hand chest pain, nagging rather than sharp pain. He is on an anti-immunesuppressent drug for Sarcoidosis, so his immune system is basically non-exsistent. Ought he to stop work and go to his ~GP. Many thanks Linda Reed

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your son's situation and problem.
Left sided chest pain is commonly seen in cardiac diseases. So better to first get done ecg and 2d echo to rule out cardiac causes.
If both these are normal than we need to rule out lung infection. Because he is taking immunosuppressive drugs, so chances of lung Infection is also high.
Lung infection causes pleurisy and this can cause chest pain.
So get done chest x ray to rule out lung infection.
If all these tests are normal than no need to worry major pathology.
His pain may be due to musculoskeletal pain only. So ask him to apply warm water pad on affected areas and take painkiller and muscle relaxant.
But first rule out cardiac cause Pulmonary causes.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
