Suggest Treatment For Chest Tightness And Shortness Of Breath

I recently visited a friend who complained of chest tightness and shortness of breath in the afternoons and early evening. He stated he had no difficulty breathing at night or first thing in the morning. His doctor just called him in an order for antibiotics. He has no cough or congestion. What do you recommend? He is 62, retired from department of transportation and the navy sea bees.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
thanks for your question
chest tightness , shortness of breath , allergy to dust and smoke , cough can be symptoms of asthma and in this age it can be a late onset asthma
other diseases can be heart related like ishchaemia
you need to visit a pulmonologist and a cardiologist who can request for a chest xray , spirometry , an ecg and he can examine you in detail and will rule out uncertain causes
thanks
feel free to ask more questions
may god bless you with good health
