Hello and welcome to HCM
It is possible that the initial reaction may have been to such insect bites. As your son had allergies, he is more prone to develop rashes and itching easily when exposed to any triggers. It can be various things like other insects, mosquito bites, bedbugs, pets, dust, pollen, any medicines, seafood etc, depending on what he is allergic to.
The itching still present since a year maybe due to the high levels of allergy in his body.
You will need to keep a note of the exact factors and times at which the reaction flares up and see if there is a pattern, then avoid these factors.
Apply a calamine lotion to soothe the skin.If there is a flare up of rashes you can use a steroid as prescribed for 5-7 days at a time n stop. Also take antihistamines like atarax or levocet once daily.
Also avoid scratching the area as that will aggravate itching and can also leave scars.
You may consult your dermatologist regarding blood tests and skin tests that are available to detect the substances that he is allergic to. They may refer you to an allergy specialist if required.
Hope this helps
