Suggest Treatment For Chills, Fatigue And Chest Congestion

Hi! I have congestion in my chest with no real cough. Not much desire to cough but the few little bits of mucus I have coughed up have been dark green. I have not had a fever when I checked it but have had chills, fatigue. I got a flu shot Sunday, ran 5 miles on Monday but on Tuesday didn t feel that great and could barely do 2 miles. I have been not well since. General feeling icky, taking naps (I only take a nap if I m sick). I have been putting Vicks on my chest at night and taking chest congestion reliever (knock off). Last fall I had a sinus infection which became pneumonia. I have been seeing an allergy doctor since then and have improved allergy symptoms but have had a little mucus in my chest this whole time (last time I saw her I had coughed up an icky green clump that morning lol). I can t fill my lungs with oxygen because they are congested.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection. I recommend to use an noninflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three tablets a day to relieve the inflammation. I also recommend to use a Mucolytic to relieve the cough.

I suggest to drink lot of liquids and rest. If the symptoms continue I suggest to sue antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
