Suggest Treatment For Chronic Acid Reflux

I need help, I have really bad acid reflux, I can hardly sleep at night. Recently, I ve been getting agonizing pain right where my belly button is, either there or its in my lower back, in between my breasts or just below that. It s been stressing me out, I don t know if it s something I ve been eating or if it s stress? I honestly have no idea. I was on ranitidine last August for a month, that didn t work, so after that I was taking omeprazole, that worked on and off. Lastly I was put on Lanzoprazole at the end of March, I am still on it at this given time, but I m not sure what it could be. The stomach pain has been giving me nausea and I have a really bad fear of being sick or just being ill in general. I hate this, I really do. It just seems that the doctors. aren t doing anything.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

These difficulties that you describe are suggestive of stomach irritation due to GERD or a hiatal hernia. These both are very common and should be initial treated which changing dietary habits.. It will also be aggravated by certain food or medications, stress and smoking. You need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and spicy food. You should eat more milk products, vegetables and boiled food. Also, certain antiacid medications may be required and as last option, it is possible to perform surgical repair of hernia especially if there are progressive respiratory discomfort and dyspepsia. To diagnose it you should do gastroscopy and if this is negative as in your case then you should do contrast x-rays of the stomach.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
